Woman Opens Fire on North Carolina Officer in Drive-By Shooting

A woman opened fire on a police officer with the Fayetteville (NC) Police Department as he sat in his patrol vehicle at an intersection.

According to ABC News, police say the woman—identified as 26-year-old Desiree Breshay Smith—took off after the shooting and was later apprehend.

She has been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, possession of a stolen firearm, felony flee to elude arrest, failure to stop at a stop sign and careless and reckless driving.

The agency did not report any injury to officers involved.
