Adversity can take many forms for police officers—both on duty and off. The stress and trauma of the job are just two of the things that can create ideation of self-harm. In addition to on-duty issues, personal financial problems, personal relationship problems, and other matters can create serious adversity in a person's life. Steve Fish of the Racine (WI) Police Department to discuss how he went through a period in which he defeated cancer but saw both his parents pass away in a very short time span.
