Residents at a local retirement community in Milton, WA, have come together to plan a fundraising picnic for their police department so that officers are well-equipped with Teddy bears to give to children caught up in high-stress incidents.

According to Fox News, Village Concepts Executive Director Jennifer Dennis was raised by two police officers and came to know at an early age how the gift of a stuffed bear can help a child through a difficult situation.

The residents of the retirement and assisted-living facility will gather on Thursday to raise money to give to the department for the purchase of as many stuffed bears as possible.
