Man Wanted for Attempting to Run Over California Deputy Surrenders

The man—identified as 43-year-old Leaire Moore—was taken into custody without incident Wednesday evening after he surrendered at a detention facility about 85 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

A man wanted for attempting to run over a San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputy on Tuesday morning has surrendered to authorities.

According to CBS News, the man—identified as 43-year-old Leaire Moore—was taken into custody without incident Wednesday evening after he surrendered at a detention facility about 85 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when a deputy was called to respond to reports of an illegal dumping taking place. The deputy located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Moore then led the deputy on a brief pursuit.

When the pursuit ended, the deputy got out of his patrol vehicle and began to approach the suspect vehicle, which then suddenly sped toward him.

The deputy was not injured.

Moore now faces charges of attempted murder of a peace officer.
