French police were forced to deploy tear gas to disperse rioters from Paris's Champs Elysees on Sunday following the traditional Bastille Day military parade commemorating the 1789 storming of the Bastille fortress in Paris during the French Revolution.

According to Reuters, protesters—some in masks—were attempting to block the famous street to traffic after the roadway was reopened at the close of the parade.

The so-called "yellow vest" rioters hurled objects at the police and set trash bins on fire.

The rioters briefly dispersed, but regrouped and set up new makeshift barricades aimed at stopping traffic.

By the end of the incident, some 152 protesters were detained by police.
