The Nashville police officer hit by an off-road vehicle on Saturday afternoon downtown has since been released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, according to a Nashville police social media post.

Special Events Sergeant John Bourque, a 22-year veteran, was being treated for minor injuries after being "struck and dragged" by an off-road vehicle, according to a news release from the Metro Nashville Police Department.

On Saturday, police said about an estimated 100 dirt bikes, motorcycles, ATVs, and four wheelers illegally took over Broadway on Saturday. A Nashville police spokeswoman said ATV riders have caused issues in the past, mainly causing congestion on roadways.

In a video, drivers of the off-road vehicles can be seen weaving in and out of traffic downtown. The video also shows Bourque being hit by one of the vehicles and dragged into a steel barrier.

The police department is searching for the driver of the four wheeler and is seeking help to identify the individual, the Tennessean reports.
