Eight officers with the Muskogee Police Department are on routine paid administrative leave following a deadly shooting at a domestic violence call earlier this week.

According to reports, police responded in number after receiving a call that a mother and daughter had been stabbed in a home.

Officers arrived to the scene, entered the residence, and discovered two victims who had been stabbed. When they came into contact with the suspect—identified as Danny Brogdon—the knife-wielding man charged officers.

An unknown number of officers opened fire, fatally wounding the assailant.

"Our officers did everything they possibly could have done yesterday to prevent from having to shoot Mr. Brogdon," said Muskogee Police Department Public Information Officer Lincoln Anderson.

The family said the mother's condition has improved, and the daughter is expected to survive.
