Community members joined motor officers with the Lumberton (NC) Police Department and the Robeson County Sheriff's Office in a charity ride to raise money for the family of fallen Officer Jason Quick, who was struck and killed by a vehicle while investigating another crash in December.
According to WBTW-TV, the event was organized by members of the East Coast Coyotes, a car club that had previously done two similar fundraisers for fallen police officers. In fact, Officer Quick was killed on the very same day the organization did a charity ride for Officer Jared William Franks of the Greensboro (NC) Police Department.
Participants were asked to donate $20 per person, and according to the organization's Facebook page, the event raised just shy of $11,000.
All proceeds from the event were given to Officer Quick's family.
