An Albuquerque police officer was treated for burns after he and two other officers pulled an injured woman from a burning car after it crashed into a pole Sunday, the Albuquerque Journal reports.
Officer John Cervantes was treated at a hospital for burns and released Sunday after the three officers broke the vehicle’s windows to remove the unconscious driver and used fire extinguishers to fight flames inside the vehicle, police said. Officers Salvador Hurtado and Sgt. Mark Valarde were the other officers involved in the rescue.
The vehicle was on fire, and the interior was filled with smoke when officers arrived early Sunday morning.
