Former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has told Bristol County (Mass.) Sheriff's gang investigators he has no ties to organized street gangs as he faces murder charges in the death of a friend.

The sheriff's Gang Intelligence Unit operating in the Bristol County House of Correction has conducted an assessment of Hernandez that included photographing his tattoos and interviewing him for any past or current gang affiliations.

Hernandez, 23, told investigators he has no gang ties, reports the Herald News. Hernandez has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly conspiring to kill Odin Lloyd, 27. Lloyd was found dead from five gunshot wounds one mile from Hernandez's home.
