Three officers were chasing Michael Benitez, 23, in December 2011, when Benitez fired multiple times, striking one of the officers in the left arm and ballistic vest covering his back. The officer shot the gun out of Benitez' hand.

Benitez pleaded guilty to attempted murder in January, reports the Long Island Press.
