Buck Knives and TOPS Knives to Create New Line for LEOs

Buck Knives has forged a new collaboration with TOPS Knives, blending the talents of two Idaho knifemakers to produce the first of a new series of knives designed to be reliable tools for law enforcement.

May 22, 2009

As they have done successfully before, Buck Knives has forged a new collaboration with TOPS Knives, blending the talents of two Idaho knifemakers to produce the first of a new series of knives designed to be reliable tools for those who protect and serve our country and its residents.

Announced at the 2009 annual Blade Show in Atlanta, the collaborators expect to reveal the full details of their first knives soon, indicating they would combine features and benefits for which these two firms have long been known and respected. The tough G10 handles on these liner-lock folders are a variation on those from Buck's Bravo and Bravo Rescue models. The TOPS-designed blade is a 3.5-inch modified Tanto blade, made of 0.170-inch-thick, high-grade steel. For optimum performance, the blades are heat-treated to the exacting standards of world famous heat-treater Paul Bos.

"We view this as another healthy step toward fulfilling our American commitment, bringing together two companies in the USA to meet knife needs of this fine group of people who protect and serve our country," said CJ Buck, president and CEO of the Post Falls, Idaho, company. "It's especially satisfying to team up with a quality firm like TOPS."

Mike Fuller, owner/president of Idaho Falls-based TOPS Knives, agreed, saying, "In this ever-changing world we live in, we are looking forward to this partnership that allows us to bring to market the best tools possible for the people who protect us on a daily basis. With many companies going overseas for production, we are pleased to join with Buck in a mutual dedication to staying right here in the USA."
