Aimpoint, known for developing and manufacturing red dot sighting technology, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025. The first prototype was built in 1974 by a Swedish hunter, and the company was founded a year later by Sandberg Development.
Created to improve accuracy and speed target acquisition, Aimpoint sights set the standard for red dot optics. Each product undergoes extensive testing in extreme heat, cold, water, and other harsh conditions.
Trusted by Military and Law Enforcement
Aimpoint’s U.S. breakthrough came in 1997 when the U.S. Army ordered 100,000 Comp M sights, known as the M68 Close Combat Optic. Since then, more than 2 million Aimpoint optics have been fielded by the U.S. Armed Forces. Today, Aimpoint products are also widely used by military units, police agencies, and tactical teams worldwide.
Commitment to Quality
“This year marks a major milestone for Aimpoint, and we are only getting started,” said Thane Smith, President of Aimpoint Inc. “Our legacy of innovation and quality standards ensures our optics are ready for missions ranging from personal protection to combat operations.”
