GOSAFE Technology has launched a national public safety initiative focused on helping law enforcement agencies, public safety organizations, and firearms professionals evaluate practical strategies to reduce unauthorized firearm access, theft, misuse, and diversion.

The initiative provides support for agency-level solutions around secure firearm storage, vehicle-storage risks, off-duty firearm security, firearm accountability, and the public safety consequences that may result when firearms are stolen, lost, improperly secured, or diverted from lawful possession. The effort will include educational materials, agency engagement, and opportunities for departments to evaluate firearm security practices in operational environments.

Federal tracking data indicates that between 2006 and 2021, over 52,000 firearms recovered through criminal investigations across the United States were traced back as once owned by law enforcement, including a significant number that were proliferated into the crime gun market following targeted thefts, unmounted storage breaches, and vehicle break-ins.

Separate research has shown that handguns reported stolen were nearly nine times (9x) more likely to later be recovered in crimes, while a separate analysis found that motor vehicles accounted for about 40% of reported gun-theft incidents.

To resolve operational threats, GOSAFE has engineered a patented, universal firearms management solution applicable across all major law enforcement firearm platforms, including AR-15, Glock, FN, S&W, Sig handguns, shotgun and carbine configurations.
