Maryland Investigative Team Wins Award

The Maryland State Police Criminal Investigation Section has received a special award from the District of Columbia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association for its dedication in investigating a wide range of cases.

The investigative section includes general assignment, the warrant/fugitive unit, and the Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Unit (CASA). These units are staffed by investigators from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Maryland State Police.

During 2002, investigators made 577 criminal arrests, 35 juvenile arrests, and placed almost 1,200 criminal charges in the more than 1,600 investigations they conducted. They also assisted with numerous other investigations and search warrants for municipal, local, and federal law enforcement agencies.
