The agreement was signed with Panasonic partner and reseller Insight Public Sector. It calls for Insight to supply approximately 1,200 CF-29 Toughbooks, as well as docking, and systems integration services. The CF-29s purchased by Miami-Dade include embedded wide area wireless access on the Cingular EDGE network as well as integrated GPS.
“Miami-Dade Police Department understands that reliability and durability are essential in the mission-critical situations police officers find themselves in every day,” says Jan Ruderman, manager of Public Safety for Panasonic Computer Solutions Company. “We are honored to be able to count MDPD among the thousands of police departments who depend on products and services from Panasonic.”
The Miami-Dade PD provides services for nearly 2 million people living in a 2,109-square-mile area. It fields 2,900 sworn officers backed up by 1,700 support personnel.
