August 12, 2014

Brother Mobile Solutions, Inc. (BMS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brother International Corp., announced today that its RuggedJet 4 Wi-Fi handheld receipt and label printers now support Apple AirPrint wireless technology. AirPrint from Apple allows users to wirelessly print from iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch devices directly to RuggedJet 4 printers with ease. Brother Mobile Solutions, provider of mobile and desktop thermal printing products, brings seamless integration and wireless printing to iOS users with this announcement.

Built-in AirPrint compatibility allows instant printing from iOS devices without the need to download or install drivers or interfaces and simplifies the RuggedJet user experience, making the thermal printer even easier to use. Moreover, all existing RuggedJet 4 Wi-Fi printers are backward compatible with AirPrint via a simple, free firmware update available from Brother.

Brother Mobile Delivers iOS Printing for B2B

Raul G. Palacios, senior product manager at Brother Mobile Solutions, notes, "We are pleased to expand on our strong relationship with Apple, from incorporating AirPrint technology in laser and inkjet office printers and now to mobile printers. This is a significant advancement for the mobile printing market, where so many mobile workers are equipped with iPhone and iPad today. Now they can print receipts and labels quickly, right out-of-the-box, from their Apple iOS device and directly to the mobile printer."

With AirPrint support built in, an organization's application developers benefit in that they do not have to spend time programming the printers or dealing with installation and set-up. Businesses and government agencies benefit as well by gaining device flexibility and the agility to future-proof their technology investments.

The Brother RuggedJet 4 Wi-Fi mobile printers are designed for high-speed, high-resolution thermal printing of 2-inch to 4-inch documents, labels, and receipts from convenient drop-in rolls. The printers are compact, easy to use and maintain, and carry a two-year "bumper-to-bumper" warranty. They are ruggedly constructed for field operations, with 6-foot drop protection and IP54 certification to withstand dust and moisture.
