New World Systems is helping the Walton County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office increase its information sharing and Intelligence-Led Policing (ILP) efforts to better serve communities.

The sheriff's office recently selected New World's Aegis Public Safety Software Suite, providing new software solutions for the agency's Computer Aided Dispatch, Law Enforcement Records Management, Corrections Management, Decision Support, Mobile Messaging and Field Reporting abilities.

New World was chosen by end-users tasked with the goal of selecting software that would grow with the sheriff's office for the next 15 to 20 years and contribute to its information sharing and ILP, according to Capt. Audie Rowell of the Walton County Sheriff's Office.

According to Rowell, who is also the Project Manager for the technology upgrade, ILP allows law enforcement to quickly and effectively analyze real-time data used for identifying crime trends and patterns. It helps law enforcement provide a better response to citizens by enabling officers to work more efficiently.

"New World software makes us better, faster and smarter," Rowell said. "Criminals are now smarter, and we need to stay ahead of them. We need to be more efficient, reduce redundant data entry, have information at the fingertips of our officers, and pull all public safety agencies together under one system."

The Walton County Sheriff's Office works with several fire and emergency medical services agencies along with a police department. Rowell said this combined effort enables the individuals at the sheriff's office to understand the importance of sharing critical information in real time. This provides better command and control over operations and streamlines criminal intelligence to the officers in the field.

Walton County is located in Florida's panhandle. It has a population of 59,000, but receives more than 3 million visitors annually. This influx of visitors means the public safety agencies must work diligently to protect and serve communities in the county.
