Comtech Telecommunications Corp. has closed its strategic acquisition of Solacom Technologies Inc., a leading provider of Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) call handling and management solutions for public safety agencies.
Comtech says the acquisition expands its presence in the public safety solutions market and enables Solacom and Comtech Safety & Security Technologies—a division of Comtech that provides public safety communications products and services—to join forces and offer integrated, best-in-class NG9-1-1 solutions to PSAPs across the country.
"This is an exciting event for our employees, our customers, and the public safety market," said Kent Hellebust, president of Comtech Safety and Security Technologies. "The addition of Solacom's innovative NG9-1-1 call handling and management solutions to the Comtech family gives 9-1-1 authorities single-source access to the most comprehensive portfolio of standards-compliant public safety products and services available in the U.S. today. We are energized by the technical possibilities this strategic union presents, and our commitment to supporting the nationwide deployment of NG9-1-1 has never been stronger."
Solacom and Comtech Safety & Security Technologies will work closely together to provide current and potential customers the best solutions that make the migration to NG9-1-1 an efficient, seamless process.
"By joining forces, we are better equipped to deliver the integrated products, services, and solutions the public safety market is looking for as agencies migrate to NG9-1-1," said Pierre Plangger, president of Solacom. "Together, we will be able to offer a broader range of options to our current and potential customers, and we will have greater resources and additional talented employees to invest in innovative products and services."
