FirstNet and Cradlepoint Expand Relationship to Advance Public Safety Communications
FirstNet is expanding its relationship with Cradlepoint. Public safety agencies can purchase select Cradlepoint wireless edge solutions directly from AT&T.
The FirstNet communications platform – built with AT&T in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) – says it is making it easier and faster for public safety agencies and emergency service organizations across the country to gain access to the network's advanced capabilities.
One way FirstNet is achieving this is by expanding its relationship with Cradlepoint, FirstNet says. Public safety agencies can purchase select Cradlepoint wireless edge solutions directly from AT&T. This includes end-to-end wireless wide-area network (WAN) solutions and FirstNet Ready wireless routers with a FirstNet service data plan.
In recent months, more public safety agencies than ever have been deploying wireless WAN solutions on the FirstNet network in response to the global COVID-19 health crisis, FirstNet says. "This surge in demand underscores the agility, flexibility and speed of deployment that only wireless can deliver. It also further validates our expanded relationship with Cradlepoint and the importance of a having a network purpose-built for public safety. This is just one example of how FirstNet is spurring innovation for public safety that can help cost-effectively increase first responders’ capabilities and situational awareness," FirstNet adds.
Cradlepoint’s wireless edge solutions are optimized for the FirstNet network. Under the expanded relationship, FirstNet subscribers will be able to purchase current and future Cradlepoint branch, mobile and IoT solutions powered by NetCloud for single-pane-of-glass orchestration, management and control. For example, this includes the all-in-one, ruggedized, and FirstNet Ready in-vehicle solutions with up to two LTE modems, advanced Wi-Fi, GPS and local Ethernet.
FirstNet is the only nationwide high-speed broadband communications platform dedicated to and purpose-built for America’s first responders, FirstNet says. "As public safety’s partner, we have a responsibility unlike any other network provider. And unlike commercial offerings, priority and preemption for first responders is always on and always ready across the FirstNet network," FirstNet adds.
