Slain Va. Tech Officer was Father of Five
Deriek W. Crouse, an Army veteran and married father of five, was killed Thursday after pulling a driver over in a school parking lot. Police said the gunman walked up, shot the officer and then fled on foot before he apparently killed himself nearby. The deceased suspect was not involved in the traffic stop.

An experiment being filmed for MythBusters went awry, when a cannonball traveling at 1,000 feet per second entered a neighborhood in Dublin, Calif. The cannonball punctured the front door of a home, exited the house, struck the roof of a second home, and landed inside a parked minivan.
