Police Week Candlelight Vigil Honors 321 Fallen Officers
Last year’s total of 120 officers killed in the line of duty was a significant reduction from the 169 killed in 2011 and the lowest number since 1959. All of the speakers at this year’s vigil praised this trend as a move in the right direction and focused on the need to further reduce line-of-duty deaths.

Glock Donates $50K to Concerns of Police Survivors
Glock Inc. today donated $50,000 to the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) at a ceremony at the company’s booth at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference in San Diego. This marks the sixth consecutive year that GLOCK has donated to C.O.P.S., bringing total GLOCK contributions to the organization to $300,000.

As a part of this year's National Police Survivors' Conference in May during National Police Week, we will be offering new sessions tailored for affected co-workers. The debriefing topics will cover death by felonious action, accidental action, drunk driving, and friendly fire/friendly action.

Alleviating Line-of-Duty Trauma
Concerns of Police Survivors will offer several training sessions to help agencies better prepare for the trauma that follows a line-of-duty death. The sessions will also cover survivor benefits, police disability, police suicide, and helping affected co-workers.

The Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) will host its seventh annual "COPS Walk" early next month to bring together survivors and members of the law enforcement community willing to accept the challenge of walking 25 miles in two days to support family, co-workers, and other supporters of fallen officers.

The surviving children of our nation's fallen law enforcement officers and their parents or guardians leave the comfort of their own homes and spend a week sleeping in bunk beds or tents, eating camp food, singing silly songs, swimming in a lake, and getting a big dose of that irreplaceable camp commodity: lasting friendships.
