Most zoos have enclosures, fences, contingencies, and trained armed personnel to deal with this possibility. Video: Ohio Cops Cope with Wild Animal Escape
Deputies and officers near Zanesville, Ohio, have mostly contained an outbreak of wild animals including 300-pound Bengal tigers, grizzly bears, and wolves released by a suicidal man. All but one of the animals have been recovered. Deputies used night-vision equipment to track and kill them.

Once police arrived at the scene, they surrounded the animal from every angle. The bear was shot with a tranquilizer dart after it ran across the street and climbed a tree.

Video: Gator Takes Bite Out of Deputy's Patrol Car
A 10-foot alligator ran afoul with the law in Florida, after attaching its jaws to the front bumper of an Alachua County Sheriff's deputy's Crown Victoria. After the gator affixed its jaws to the front bumper, the deputy reversed the vehicle to loosen the animal's grip.

Missouri Deputy Resigns, After Shooting Chihuahua
Dep. Kelly Barks was responding to a domestic disturbance call in February, when she encountered three growling dogs, including the Chihuahua. Barks fired at the dog, left the home, and returned to fire two more shots at the dog.

Moose Shakes Off TASER Attempt In Alaska
Biologists with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game deployed a special TASER designed for wildlife on the animal on Feb. 4, yet they were unable to stop the hulking animal. Both probes from the electronic control device failed to stick in the moose because of its thick winter coat.

St. Louis Deputy Fatally Shoots Pit Bull
A St. Louis Sheriff's deputy shot and killed one of two pit bulls who approached him in a threatening manner on Monday. The deputy was leaving his home, when the shooting occurred.
