Charging Cow Critically Wounds Deputy

An East Texas deputy was critically injured earlier today when a cow charged him, struck him in the chest, and knocked him onto his head.

Smith County Sheriff's Department Deputy Robert Britton Jr., 54, suffered massive head trauma after being struck by the cow, which had been hit by two vehicles, reports the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Dep. Britton was trying to move stray cows that were lying in the roadway. The cow was put down after the attack.
