Washington Sheriff’s Sergeant Fatally Struck by Vehicle

At approximately 7:40 a.m., Sgt. Kenneth Salas was working to clear a large traffic hazard on eastbound I-90 when he was struck.

A Spokane County (Washington) Sheriff’s sergeant was killed Saturday (August 9, 2025) when he was struck by a vehicle.

At approximately 7:40 a.m., Sgt. Kenneth Salas was working to clear a large traffic hazard on eastbound I-90 when he was struck.

Sgt. Salas served 34-years with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office working patrol, SRO, traffic, and tactical operation, the sheriff's office said.

He is survived by his wife.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating this incident.
