A woman who dialed 911 to report a black bear next to Tualatin Elementary School in Tualatin, Ore., assured the dispatcher that it was most definitely not a dog.
The bear wandered in fields near the school and its playground for hours yesterday.

Once police arrived at the scene, they surrounded the animal from every angle. The bear was shot with a tranquilizer dart after it ran across the street and climbed a tree.
