64 Law Enforcement Officer Fatalities Nationwide in First Half of 2015
According to preliminary data compiled by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 64 law enforcement officers have been killed in the line of duty during the first half of 2015. This represents a 3% increase over the same period in 2014 in which 62 officers were killed.

Protecting Blue Civil Rights
During National Police Week, the Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos National Blue Alert Act was passed by Congress. Now law enforcement officers need more protection, an amendment to the federal Hate Crimes statute to create the Blue Shield Protection Act.

For saving a man from a burning car, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has announced the selection of Sgt. Anthony Schnacky and Officer Matthew Curry of the Rosenberg (Texas) Police Department as the recipients of its Officer of the Month Award for June 2015.
