252 Fallen LEOs to be Honored During 28th Annual Candlelight Vigil on May 13
Today the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund released the roll call of names of 252 U.S. law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. These names will be engraved next month and formally dedicated at the 28th annual Candlelight Vigil held on the National Mall on Friday, May 13th at 8:00 pm.

Michigan Troopers, Deputy Named March 2016 NLEOMF Officers of the Month
For saving a child from a house fire, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has selected Trooper Jim Leonard and Trooper Rick Carlson, of the Michigan State Police, and Deputy Justin Holzschu, of the Otsego County (MI) Sheriff's Department, as the recipients of its Officer of the Month Award for March 2016.

NLEOMF Calls for Condemnation of the Ambush Killing of Officer Jacai Colson
The shooting death this past Sunday of Prince George’s County (MD) Police Officer Jacai D. Colson was horrific and shocking on many levels. This is the fifth time this year that an ambush assault has resulted in the death of a law enforcement officer.

About 10 Officers Per Year are Killed in Ambushes, but Five Already in 2016
Statistics show that since 2000, there have been about 9.5 ambush killings of law enforcement officers per year nationwide, and that the number has been declining in recent years, to about six per year. But this year is off to a horrible start. There have already been five ambush killings in 2016.

124 Law Enforcement Officers Died on Duty in 2015
The 124 officer fatalities in 2015 represented a 4% increase from the 119 officers who died in the line of duty in 2014. Of the 124 officers who died this year, 52 died in traffic-related incidents, 42 were killed by gunfire and 30 died as a result of other causes.
