NV Tribal Officer Struck by Vehicle and Killed During Pursuit

A Nevada tribal police officer was struck by  a vehicle and killed during a pursuit Friday evening.

Pyramid Lake officer Anthony Francone was chasing a suspect along State Route 446 near mile marker 11 around 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25. According to Pyramid Lake fire chief Don Pelt, Officer Francone was struck by the suspect's vehicle and he responded by shooting the suspect.

Two people were killed in the incident, the FBI reports, News3 Las Vegas reports.

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe announced the officer's death Saturday morning.
