A police officer in eastern Kentucky was rushed to the hospital Monday after someone shot at his patrol vehicle cutting him with flying glass.
A suspect is in custody, WSAZ reports.

Officer Preston posted the following on Facebook on Tuesday morning: "The good Lord had his blanket of armor around me yesterday. Suspect apparently attempted to murder a random police officer.

June 13, 2023Olive Hill Officer Joe Preston was not responding to any calls when the incident occurred.
An Olive Hill city official reported Cornell drove the wrong way down the street before pausing long enough to raise a high-powered rifle, firing a single shot through the window of Preston's cruiser, the Daily Independent reports.
After initially saying that the officer was shot and transported for medical treatment, Kentucky State Police announced Monday night that the officer's cruiser was hit and he received injuries when the glass burst during the incident, WLWT reports.
Preston posted the following on Facebook on Tuesday morning: "The good Lord had his blanket of armor around me yesterday. Suspect apparently attempted to murder a random police officer by shooting him in the head with a high-powered rifle. Bullet missed my head by about six inches."
A suspect, Wesley James Cornell, was captured by a Kentucky State Police SWAT team around 1:30 Tuesday morning in Lewis County, Ky.
