WA Detective Shot, Critically Wounded During Eviction

All three detectives were wearing ballistic vests, but a bullet reportedly missed the vest of one officer and struck him in the upper torso.

A King County (WA) Sheriff's Office detective was shot and critically wounded Monday morning while serving an eviction notice.

According to authorities, a preliminary investigation showed that several detectives arrived to serve an eviction notice at a home in the area. After speaking with the 29-year-old man at the home, investigators say there was an exchange of gunfire.

According to investigators, all three detectives were wearing ballistic vests, but a bullet reportedly missed the vest of one officer and struck him in the upper torso. A spokesperson confirmed he was shot just once. The detective is reportedly in critical condition at a local hospital, Fox 13 reports.

The suspect was found dead in the residence.
