While the family was across the country in Washington, D.C., the son checked the camera via the Internet and saw a teenage male inside the home near the computer upstairs.
The father called police, who arrested the neighbor at the home. The man’s belongings and food wrappers were found lying around the house. He said he had climbed in the window.
“The (suspect) did have a falling out with his parents and was looking for a place to stay,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said. “They told him specifically he was not allowed in the house.”
Police said the house had been ransacked and that video had caught the neighbor downloading pornography on the family’s computer.
The man was arrested on investigation of burglary and booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
