NYPD Doesn't Rule Out 'South Park' Connection to Car Bomb
Several radical Muslim groups called for retribution against the creators of a recent episode that parodied the Islamic prophet, Muhammad.
Los Angeles police are on heightened alert, after the failed Times Square car bombing in New York ocurred near the offices of L.A.-based Viacom, the corporate parent of Comedy Central's "South Park" animated series, the L.A. Weekly reports.
The radical Muslim Website Revolutionmuslim.com called for jihad against the West and wrote that the creators of a recent episode "defamed" the Islamic prophet, Muhammad. The website published the addresses of New York offices of the network.
New York police commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters Sunday that investigators haven't ruled out the possibility Viacom, a couple blocks from the car bomb, was a target because of the animated comedy episode, the Weekly reports.
