The Los Angeles Police Department has apprehended one of two suspects who fired at officers during a pedestrian stop in the Hyde Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
Chief Charlie Beck also said a handgun recovered from the area is likely the weapon used in the shooting.
The officer who was struck by multiple handgun rounds, and who has not been named, is expected to fully recover. His ballistic vest absorbed two bullets that struck him in the torso. A third bullet struck his wrist and hand.
Following the shooting on Thursday, more than 100 LAPD officers closed down the area and began door-to-door searches to locate the suspects.
