The city of Anchorage has paid more than $5.5 million to settle 11 lawsuits that stemmed from the actions of convicted rapist and disgraced Anchorage Police Officer Anthony Rollins, reports the Anchorage Daily News.
The settlements range from $52,500 to $1.7 million. Rollins was convicted and sentenced to 87 years in prison.
After the scandal, the department closed some substations and installed cameras in others. The department also fine-tuned its lie-detector test used on police applicants. The International Association of Chiefs of Police is scheduled to present a review of the department this month.
