VIDEO: Iowa Officer Saves Drowning Teen
An Ames (Iowa) Police officer responding to a two-vehicle accident waded into icy waters to pull a 16-year-old girl out of her overturned car.
Officer John Barney's quick action saved Elizabeth Funk, after another driver failed to yield, striking Funk's vehicle and knocking it into an icy creek. Barney heard Funk's screams and headed into the water. He broke out the driver's-side window and cut her seatbelt.
Funk later told WHO-TV that the officer grabbed her leg and pulled her out of the car just as she passed out.
