A man convicted to making threatening 911 calls to Cleveland police officers began holding a sign referring to himself as an idiot outside of Second District headquarters Monday.

In March, a judge had sentenced Richard Dameron, 58, to hold the sign as a way to apologize to Officer Jim Simone, a veteran officer who was profiled in Police Magazine's April "Shots Fired." Simone has become known as "super cop" because he has been shot twice in his career, including once in the head.

Dameron must spend three hours a day this week holding the sign to complete his shaming sentence, reports KAKE.
