Calif. Deputy Allegedly Pepper Sprayed Teen's Pizza

An Orange County (Calif.) Sheriff's deputy faces a misdemeanor count of assault or battery by a public officer for allegedly pepper spraying a teen's pizza during a traffic stop.

Juan Tavera, a six-year veteran, had pulled up to a vehicle stop initiated by another deputy in Laguna Hills on Sept. 8. During the stop, the deputy allegedly reached into the back seat and pepper sprayed a pizza. Later, the teen and four friends got sick, reports the Los Angeles Times.
