A central New Jersey police officer is recovering after suffering serious injuries when he was dragged by a motor vehicle, reports the Associated Press.
The New Brunswick (N.J.) PD officer had an encounter with 24-year-old Donell Cook, who was in a vehicle. Cook drove away, dragging the officer approximately 50 feet until he hit a parked vehicle. Cook then allegedly attempted to disarm the officer, who was able to fight him off.
Cook was then apprehended by New Brunswick and Rutgers University police.
The officer, whose name was not released, was hospitalized Thursday in stable condition with multiple broken bones, abrasions and internal injuries.
