VIDEO: Dallas Officer Adopts Dog He Rescued from Highway
A dog that a Dallas police officer rescued from the middle of Interstate 35E will be placed in his "forever home" Thursday.
The dog, named Laurel by Off. John Rogers, won't have to go far, as Rogers is the one who stepped up and adopted her, NBC DFW reports.
Laurel was lying on the concrete barrier on I-35E near Interstate 20 when officers found her Feb. 13. Rogers was able to coax her into his police cruiser, where she perked up and licked his face.
Rogers texted pictures to his wife, who said she wanted Laurel if no one claimed her.
A waiting period to see if anyone claimed the dog has ended, so Rogers will reunite with Laurel and take her home today.
