VIDEO: Colorado Police Families Cope with Recent Duty Deaths
Since New Year's Eve, three Colorado law enforcement officers have been shot and killed in the line of duty. The rising number of duty deaths in the state has a lot of Colorado police families worrying more than normal about the safety of their loved ones who wear badges.
“It feels like a fluke to me. I’m hoping that it’s a fluke because I can’t keep doing this,” Ashley Condover said. Condover is married to a Denver police officer who has been on the force for more than 20 years, KDVR reports.
“The last five weeks have been really hard,” she said. “They’ve been very emotional and every morning he leaves for work is a much bigger deal." She said every day her husband leaves for work, she makes it a point to say “I love you. Stay safe.”
