A Will County (IL) Sheriff's deputy was saved by body armor Tuesday night when he was shot in the back while serving a warrant in Joliet. A second deputy was shot and grazed on the arm.
Two men have been charged in connection with the shooting, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The deputies were trying to break down the door of a building in the 200 block of Richard Street about 8:30 p.m. when they were shot. The deputies are both members of the sheriff’s office gang suppression unit, Will County Sheriff Deputy Chief Dan Jungles said.
