Florida Reserve Officer Arrested Following Hit-and-Run Collision
Miami police spokeswoman Kiara Delva told WPLG-TV that 55-year-old Milton Roy Lovett served as a full time police officer with the City of Miami for 14 years until he retired in July 2013. Lovett is currently a reserve officer with the department.
A reserve police officer with the Miami Police Department was arrested following a hit-and-run crash over the weekend.
Miami police spokeswoman Kiara Delva told WPLG-TV that 55-year-old Milton Roy Lovett served as a full time police officer with the City of Miami for 14 years until he retired in July 2013. Lovett is currently a reserve officer with the department.
Lovett reportedly left the scene briefly, but then walked back to the crash site and admitted to responding officers that he had caused the collision.
Officers reported smelling alcohol on Lovett's breath—Lovett was also allegedly slurring his words as he spoke.
Lovett refused to perform a field sobriety test, and officers eventually had to take him to the ground to place him under arrest.
Lovett faces charges of DUI, DUI with property damage or damage to a person, resisting an officer with violence and careless driving.
