Florida Police Commander Criticized Over Parkland Attack Response Resigns
Commander Jan Jordan had been described in testimony before a commission investigating the Valentine's Day massacre as being "ineffective" and having a "dream-like" nature to her speech during the incident.
The Broward Sheriff's Office police commander who reportedly oversaw the agency's response to the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February has resigned.
Commander Jan Jordan had been described in testimony before a commission investigating the Valentine's Day massacre as being "ineffective" and having a "dream-like" nature to her speech during the incident.
Broward Sheriff Scott Israel reportedly accepted Jordan's resignation on Tuesday, according to a local ABC News affiliate.
Parkland District Sergeant Brian Miller was also placed on restrictive administrative duty—video shows that he remained in the parking lot even after other law enforcement officers entered the school building, according ABC News.
The commission has also determined that at least seven other deputies had arrived on scene before Jordan, and none had entered the building.
The investigation remains ongoing.
