According to KHOU-TV, the deputy was on his way home from work when he spotted four men in hoods run around the fence near the gas station.

The deputy pulled into the parking lot and saw the clerk in the gas station shop put up their hands and saw at least one of the suspects was armed. One of the suspects turned and presented his weapon in the deputy's direction, and the deputy opened fire, officials say.

One suspect was shot. The deputy was also able to detain a second suspect.
