The Paris Police Department was forced to close a police station in the northeastern part of that city after it was discovered that the building had been infested with fleas.

According to CNN, the police union said on Twitter that officers at the station had been under siege from the fleas for several days, which made working conditions intolerable.

The union said, "What is needed in order to control a flea invasion is to disinfect the whole building and even the cars of the people who work there. The higher authorities are putting Band-Aids on a wooden leg."

Some officers had sought medical treatment due to flea bites.

It is not clear how long the building will be shuttered.
