On the day of the party, 18 officers arrived in cars running the lights atop their patrol vehicles.

According to the Midland Daily News, Micah's mom—Sarah Schieber—said yes, and sent invitations to the department, not knowing what the response would be.

Micah's father was a police officer, but Micah never really got to know him—Chad Schieber died while participating in the 2007 Chicago Marathon when the boy was just six years old.
