As 18-year-old Micah Schieber began planning his party to celebrate his graduation from Midland High School in Michigan he asked his mother if he could invite officers from his local police department to attend.

According to the Midland Daily News, Micah's mom—Sarah Schieber—said yes, and sent invitations to the department, not knowing what the response would be.

Micah's father was a police officer, but Micah never really got to know him—Chad Schieber died while participating in the 2007 Chicago Marathon when the boy was just six years old.

On the day of the party, 18 officers arrived in cars running the lights atop their patrol vehicles.

Micah presented officers with a variety of gifts, including art pieces he had made in welding class.
