450 Departments Nationwide Wear Pink Patches for Breast Cancer Awareness
Officers with an estimated 390 departments nationwide will wear pink uniform patches during the month in an effort to raise awareness—and money—for breast cancer research and treatment.
Officers with an estimated 450 departments nationwide will wear pink uniform patches during the month in an effort to raise awareness—and money—for breast cancer research and treatment.
According to KTAR Radio, about 250 officers with the Glendale (AZ) Police Department are participating in the Pink Patch Project throughout October. The Buckeye (AZ) Police Department announced that it is also participating in the initiative.
In total, 12 Phoenix-area police departments will be sporting specially made uniform patches in the color pink as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Citizens can purchase these patches from area departments with the proceeds going to the Pink Patch Program, a public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.
The project has raised more than $100,000 thus far.
