A police department is Missouri is getting a lot of attention for a social media post in which it invited gullible purchasers of illegal narcotics to bring their drugs into the station to be properly weighed, thereby supposedly not falling victim to a "scam" in which tricky drug dealers would sell them short on their drug buy.
The Winfield (MO) Police Department said on Facebook that it "has been made aware of a new scam that we wish to share with everyone."
The post continued, "Some untrustworthy drug dealers are using their cell phone, instead of a certified scale to display the weight of the merchandise that they are selling. By placing the drugs on their cell phone, they can type in whatever weight they want, claiming it was the weight agreed upon during your transaction."
The post has received nearly 2,000 "likes" and has been shared more than 1,000 times, but it is unclear if it's led to any arrests.
