Alabama law enforcement came to the aid of a disabled veteran walking along the side of the road carrying an oxygen tank last week.
Gulf War veteran Gerald Baldwin told a Walker County Sheriff’s deputy he was trying to walk 100 miles from Cordova, AL, to Huntsville for a scheduled appointment with the Veterans Administration because his car was out of commission.

Baldwin told the deputy he was walking to a doctor’s appointment "For my V.A. benefits. To keep them. If I don't make it, I lose them."

Law enforcement in three more counties and good Samaritans teamed up to get Baldwin to his destination and back safely,
        ABC 7
       reports.
